Being Disciplined

I've been reading Good to Great by Jim Collins over the past week and have really enjoyed it. Big picture of the book is understanding how good companies became great companies and as I read on thing really stood out...Disciplined. I'm not a very disciplined person my nature. On key characteristics of Great companies is that their leaders and company are disciplined at what they do. The book put it this way:

A Culture of Discipline: All companies have a culture, some companies have discipline, but very few companies have a culture of discipline. When you have discipled people, you don't need a hierarchy. When you have disciplined thought, you don't need bureaucracy. When you have disciplined action, you don't need excessive control. When you combine a culture of discipline with an ethic of entrepreneurship, you get the magical alchemy of great performance.
I'm starting out on a journey to become more disciplined. I believe it started with getting less lazy or at least it is a step along the way. I'm changing a couple of things in my life and not taking the easy way. Baby steps. Baby steps. (Ever see "What About Bob?" Baby steps in the elevator...baby steps out of the elevator; never mind.)

If we are going to have a church that is going to do GREAT things for God and His kingdom, then we need to be disciplined in what needs to get done and that culture of discipline needs to start at the being with me. Follow as I journey to become more disciplined.

P.S. Don't search "Disciplined" on Google for a picture for your blog post. You get some weird pictures to come up.

If you have any thoughts on Discipline I would love to hear them. Post of comment here.
