I have verse of the day on my iGoogle and today's verses were as follow:
A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, "If you are willing, you can make me clean." Filled with compassion, Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. "I am willing," he said. "Be clean!" Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cured. Jesus sent him away at once with a strong warning: "See that you don't tell this to anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them." Instead he went out and began to talk freely, spreading the news. As a result, Jesus could no longer enter a town openly but stayed outside in lonely places. Yet the people still came to him from everywhere. Mark 1:40-45
It's funny how God works. I had coffee with Phil this morning and I was talking about how I don't won't to be someone who means well. Someone that believes they are doing the right thing. Look at the Pharisees of Jesus' day. They believe that what they were doing was right. They believed that they needed to kill Jesus (they didn't for God's plan to be fulfilled, but I wouldn't want to be in there shoes). They killed Christians and tried to stop the spread of Christianity because they thought is was what they were supposed to do. My comment to Phil was I don't want to be that person. That grips to tight on to my beliefs of what God wants from me that I loose focus of what God is calling me to do. Then I come home and read this section of Mark.
How often have we not take the time and do it our way when Jesus had a plan for us to do His ministry? Yeah, the man probably lead people to Jesus because of His testimony, but what about all the MORE people Jesus could of reached if He was able to enter the city himself.
God, I don't want to take a step till you lead. I want to be in such deep intimacy with you that my thoughts are your thoughts and my direction is your direction. God, I want to follow you and not go off my own plan, even if I think it's right.
